How to Choose Healthier Chocolate
By DIRTY GUT · Published October 19, 2026 · Updated October 19, 2026
What is the healthiest chocolate?
It depends on what you want from your chocolate. Compare added sugar, fiber, saturated fat, allergens, and the amount you actually eat. DIRTY GUT is worth considering if you want individually wrapped chocolate with added prebiotic fiber and live probiotics. If you want a coconut-filled bar, a chocolate-covered nut, or a large bar to share, another format may fit better. No single brand is the healthiest choice for everyone.
Start with the portion, then read the label
A small chocolate bite can have less sugar per piece than a large bar simply because it is smaller. For a fair comparison, use the same weight of chocolate, then consider the portion you plan to eat. Check total sugars and added sugars separately; added sugars are already included in total sugars.
Coconut sugar still counts as added sugar. A familiar ingredient name does not replace the Nutrition Facts panel. Cocoa percentage, fiber, and a probiotic claim each tell you something about a product; none is a complete health ranking.
Where DIRTY GUT fits
DIRTY GUT makes chocolate bites with prebiotic fiber and live probiotics. They are individually wrapped for a chocolate break, a desk snack, or an after-dinner treat. Choose Classic Milk for a creamy bite, Rich Dark for deeper cocoa flavor, or Sea Salt Crunch for dark chocolate with crisp rice and sea salt.
Our current ingredient lists include cocoa, coconut sugar, cocoa butter, prebiotic fibers, sunflower lecithin, and live probiotics. Classic Milk contains milk. Ingredients vary by flavor, so check the complete list and allergen statement on your pack.

Does added fiber make chocolate a health food?
Fiber is one reason to choose a product, but chocolate is still a sweet treat. Your overall diet and preferences matter. Probiotic effects depend on the specific organisms and evidence; a culture count alone does not prove a digestive benefit.
We make DIRTY GUT for people who want chocolate first, with fiber and probiotics as additional features.
